Vault 101 (3%)

Her father, James, and Revelations 21:6. Her father was one of only two people in the Vault she got along with, and grew up very attached to him. He had a favorite passage from the Bible - I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Life in the Vault and the G.O.A.T. For reasons unknown, Catherine was never very popular in the Vault. Any attempts to get to know the other kids were shot down immediately. Her only friend was Amata Almodavar, the Overseer's daughter. At 16, she took the Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test and was slated to be a Jukebox Technician.
Escape! Shortly after her 19th birthday, on August 17th, Amata came bursting into her room to tell her that her dad was gone, as in left the vault. The Overseer lost it and began beating his aide for information and accidentally killed him; he was now coming down to do the same to Catherine. She ran past everyone, shot a few of the guards shooting at her, and managed to escape the Vault in search of her dad.

Megaton, a village that sprung up around an unexploded nuclear bomb. Originally comprised of people turned away from Vault 101, Megaton is now a bustling village. This is where Catherine found the schematics for the Rock-It Launcher.

Scientific Pursuits (4%)

Project Purity and the Jefferson Memorial. It was her father's wish to provide clean, pure water for everyone in the Capital Wastes; see Revelations 21:6. For large-scale projects, they commandeered the Jefferson Memorial.

Repair aptitude. While her mercenary skills are what got her through the Wastes, her repair aptitude was what made her a legend. Nothing short of highly specialized equipment could stop her tinkering hands, and while most people would need the exact same parts to repair things, she learned how to do it with vaguely similar parts. How? She's not telling.
