Hey, so does anybody know a guy named Lincoln? His name's engraved on the side of this rifle I found in my room. Looks like a pretty old gun, so it probably wouldn't be somebody still alive, but hey. Not a bad little piece of machinery here.
...starting to remember home, too. Vault 101 wasn't the best of places to live, but then I don't really know anywhere else. Amata and I got along pretty well... not so much for Butch and the rest of his lackeys. I guess for the most part they weren't too bad to deal with. And hey! I remembered it was my birthday just in time for my birthday. Turned 20 today!
And it turns out this thing isn't just a worthless piece of junk. Must've fixed itself or something, because some of the menus aren't junk data anymore. It's almost usable like this. At least it's something.
[Private; very easily hackable]
No one ever enters... and no one ever leaves. Vault 101 must be like paradise to anyone unlucky enough to be left alive. The bombs dropped almost two hundred years ago, but it's still a radioactive wasteland. Nothing survives easily up there. It's... it's...
Dammit, what the hell did I do to deserve this? Why am I in some place where you can't even get to work without going outside? How did I even leave the Vault? There's orders to kill anyone looking to get out, and I don't even know how to open the door...

Huh, three weeks exact. Who would've guessed?

Date: 2009-07-15 03:14 am (UTC)Pip-Boy 3000! Don't know what the 3000 is for, but that doesn't matter. It's an arm-mounted computer, limited functions, and I'm not really sure what it's capable of; seems a bit on the broken side. Got it when I was ten, and the only thing I know for sure is that it's got something that charts out a map. Wherever I go, it automatically fills the thing in.
[She hits a few more buttons and brings up a particularly incomplete map of the town and shows her.]
Not sure how much help it's going to be to anyone here, since I can't get this thing off my arm, but it's something.

Date: 2009-07-15 04:30 am (UTC)Oh!! Well, it seems like it would be helpful to you! And maybe you'll figure out other things it does. [Bright smile.] Maybe you could make copies of the map somehow? I'm not sure, but it's amazing!
